Mike Cullen, the owner, is a master (and really hot to boot). The atmosphere is perfect and couldn't be a better compliment to the neighbourhood.

Laziness plays a factor in why I caffeinate at Bulldog Coffee: it's close to a good friend's house. Regardless, the espresso is creamy and rich, the decor modern, and the prices reasonable. Hot chocolate is made with Ghirardelli. Ross, the owner and head barista, wins all sorts of awards for his fern and heart foam art, but he has quite a temper. Think "can't afford Toronto real estate downtown so compromised and bought a few blocks north in midtown". The gestalt is organic, natural and local with warm & welcoming staff, primo Intelligensia coffee, exposed brick walls, large communal table, cozy sofa and chairs you melt into (coziness is guaranteed, they are nap tested), lots of good art on the walls and free WiFi. The Chai Latte is transcendent and the biscotti are so good you'll want to throw them a party. Scratch is the local hangout

Perfect little indepedent shop in an neighbourhood that is growing and begging for creativity! Opened in May 2008, Scratch makes great coffee and treats. Tea bags and coffee beans for sale, too. Cool stone banquet table with sun pouring in the front window in the morning. Friendly staff. And... The walls and cabinets are adorned with local arts and crafts... paintings, collages, jewellery, shirts, knits ... all for sale, too. Support this inspiring local shop!

This place is amazing for fair trade coffee, and friendly service. Great place to relax and sit down, it's never too crowded. Amazing freshley squeezed lemonade in the summer!
